Simi Valley Hospital Foundation Elects New Chair; Gains Five New Directors
The Simi Valley Hospital Foundation announced today that Jill Haney, vice president of Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, will take the reigns as its new board chair, and that effective immediately five new directors will be serving on its board.
Appointed by a unanimous vote, Haney assumes responsibilities as board chair from Leigh Nixon, president and CEO of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s truly an honor to serve as board chair for the Simi Valley Hospital Foundation because its mission is so widespread and vital to the community. Everyone one of us living or working in Simi Valley or Moorpark may need the services of the hospital at one time or another—it just makes good sense to invest in a charity that directly benefits the community,” said Haney.
Dedicated to community service, Haney is also a board director for the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Simi Sunset Rotary.
Along with the appointment of Haney as board chair, five new community leaders were recently welcomed to the Simi Valley Hospital Foundation board: Dee Dee Cavanaugh, vice president, First California Bank; Alex Gandel, executive, Troop Real Estate; Roy Jones, captain, Simi Valley Police Department; Jarrod Degonia, district director for Assemblyman Cameron Smyth; and Richard Sanders, vice president, Janzen, Johnston & Rockwell Emergency Management Medicine Services, Inc.
“Each of these new members brings a special talent and passion in advocating for the hospital’s continued growth and prosperity,” said Haney. “We are fortunate to have such high-caliber individuals coming on board to support the community’s hospital.”
The five new members join the existing board, which includes Monica Berlin, Berlin Consulting; John Grabowsky, vice president and general manager, AV Inc.; Gregg P. Hartman, MD, Ventura Orthopedics; Paul Miller, Simi Valley mayor; Leigh Nixon, president & CEO, Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce; Joan Rogers, Simi Valley Hospital Volunteer Guild; and David A. Sommer, Sommer’s Sports Chiropractic. Also on the Foundation Board are Simi Valley Hospital President and CEO Gary Irish, Chief Financial and Operations Vice President Truman Esmond, and Adventist Health Senior Vice President Scott Reiner.
