SVH: In the News — MRI Accreditation
MRI Program Receives American College of Radiology Accreditation
Simi Valley Hospital announced today that the American College of Radiology (ACR) awarded a three-year term of accreditation for its Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program.
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
“Receiving the accreditation from ACR is an honor and a reflection of our Diagnostic Imaging Department’s commitment to providing quality patient care,” said Margaret Peterson, President and CEO of Simi Valley Hospital.
The MRI at Simi Valley Hospital provides fast, high-resolution images and unprecedented patient comfort and convenience. A component of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Simi Valley Hospital, MRI requires specialized equipment and expertise, and allows evaluation of some body structures that may not be as visible with other imaging methods.
Board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field conduct ACR Evaluations. Moreover, they assess the qualifications of the personnel, adequacy of facility equipment, as well as perform quality assessments and improvement activities.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
