SVH: Nancy Reagan Breast Center

Welcome to the Nancy Reagan Breast Center. We’re dedicated to one purpose: the prevention and detection of breast disease. Conveniently located in the Aspen Outpatient Center of Simi Valley Hospital & Health Care Services, we are the area’s first and most comprehensive, state-of-the-art diagnostic breast center. As part of your community, we carry out a daily mission to keep you healthy.

We are proud of the many ways we meet the special, ongoing needs of women. We combine the most advanced technology with the warmth of personalized care–all in one convenient, close-to-home location. And we’re committed to providing low-cost mammograms so that every woman can take advantage of this life-saving test.

Everything we do is designed to make you feel comfortable.

We want you to feel at ease. That’s why we’ve gone out of our way to provide a sensitive, compassionate and nurturing environment–from specially designed, soothing decor to the use of plush cotton robes and the advantage of flexible hours. Just one technologist will guide you through whatever diagnostic procedures are necessary. At the same time, we’ll help you feel confident with up-to-date information on breast cancer detection and treatment.

We’re here to help you understand self-detection.

The earlier breast cancer is detected, the better the chances of successful treatment and survival. That’s why we offer free one-on-one instruction on how to examine your breasts according to American Cancer Society guidelines (in sidebar at right). You can also watch videos, borrow educational materials from our lending library and receive hands-on-training with life-sized models of the breast. We want you to be an active participant in your health.

Our up-to-the minute technology allows diagnosis to be achieved much earlier and with greater accuracy.

Most likely you are familiar with mammography, which can detect tiny lumps several years before they can be felt with self-examination. In addition to X-ray Mammography, we offer dedicated, state-of-the-art ultrasound; and soon we’ll be offering the advanced diagnostic technique of Magnetic Resonance Mammography. Plus we are set up to provide Full Field Digital Mammography when it becomes available to us in the near future.

Not only is our staff ACR accredited in mammography, but our equipment is specially designed and dedicated just to mammography. What’s more, every mammogram is double-read by our board-certified radiologists.

We offer breast biopsy procedures that are quick and non-invasive.

If suspicious lumps are detected, you should know that a biopsy no longer means going through surgery or being left with a scar. We are the first breast center in Ventura County to offer stereotactic breast biopsies, the latest non-surgical technique for determining if lumps are cancerous. It takes less than one hour with a local anesthetic and a small probe, and provides fast results. In fact, we can conduct many biopsies using a needle guided by specialized mammography techniques or by ultrasound. These procedures are quick, almost completely painless and can be done while you’re awake. Better yet, they do not disfigure the breast.

We try to meet all your special needs.

If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, Simi Valley Hospital & Health Care Services can provide treatment right within our system. We use a team approach to planning your treatment because we understand that your situation is unique. Your family history, medical condition, emotional state and the stage at which cancer was detected are just a few of the factors that must be considered.

During the course of treatment, we are also able to address any special needs you may have for nutritional counseling, physical therapy or occupational therapy. You can take advantage of our After Breast Cancer support group to talk with other women who share your experience. Our psychologists and chaplain are available any time you feel like talking to them.

We are committed to helping women detect breast cancer at its earliest stages, even before you may notice symptoms yourself. Fortunately, the ability to be cured is greater than ever, thanks to educational programs, aggressive screening techniques such as low-cost mammograms, the most advanced diagnostic technology, a dedicated staff of highly experienced professionals and a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

We’re here for you.

Our convenient location and flexible hours make it easier for you to take advantage of our screening programs. And our convenient location will mean a lot to you and your family if treatment-which often requires daily or every-other-day visits–and/or follow-up care is needed.
